Zingiber Ginger is a spicy, herbaceous perennial that produces knobby, underground rhizomes that can be used fresh or powdered in a variety of things. The young shoots and leaves are also edible and can be used as a fresh condiment, vegetable or a garnish. These plants can grow fairly large, in 3 foot high spreading clumps with long, narrow leaves. In the fall, the ginger produces yellow-green flowers with stunning purple lips.
